SBI investigates after teen found dead in home

MOORESVILLE, N.C. — State agents are investigating after a teenager died in Mooresville.

Late Friday, Eyewitness News confirmed the victim's name is Markell Norris. Police are still trying to figure out how 17-year-old died.

Norris lived with friends in a mobile home on Bell Street. Channel 9 spoke to one of them who said he tried to wake Norris up for school Friday morning.

Norris goes to Mooresville High School. The friend said he found the Norris dead and he looked like he had been beaten in his sleep.

Neighbors watched as State Bureau of Investigation agents went in and out of the house taking bags of evidence.

Investigators said they have no idea how Norris died, but the way friends found him raises a lot of questions.

They spoke to several neighbors Friday and investigators hope an autopsy will give them more answers.
