CHESTERFIELD - The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal wreck that happened near Chesterfield around 1 a.m. Sunday morning.
According to state troopers, Jimmy Presley, 46, was driving a 1997 Ford Explorer south on W.L. Melton Road with three passengers in the vehicle.
Troopers said the Explorer ran off the left side of the road, hit the ditch and then overturned. A passenger in the backseat was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.
Presley and the two other passengers were transported by EMS to Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center in Hartsville.
State troopers said the accident remains under investigation, but that charges are pending.
