SOUTH CAROLINA — A South Carolina woman who was the oldest living person in the U.S. has died.
Family members said 114-year-old Mamie Rearden of Edgefield, which is just north of Augusta, Ga., passed away Wednesday.
Rearden's daughter said her mother broke her hip in a fall less than a month ago.
Rearden held the title for about two weeks after a 115-year-old woman in Iowa passed away.
