SCDOT: Hole in overpass shuts down I-77

CHESTER COUNTY, S.C. — South Carolina Department of Transportation Officials have shut down one lane of Interstate 77 northbound at mile marker 63 Friday after a hole opened up in the bridge overpass.

Officials said the overpass is approximately 2 miles south of SC 9 in Chester County.

Chopper 9 flew over the scene where road crews and troopers had the hole blocked off.

DOT officials said it would be about 10:30 p.m. before they will have the hole repaired.
