SC man, 61, injured after log crashes through truck windshield

YORK COUNTY, S.C. — A man who rear-ended a logging truck forcing one of the logs through this windshield is still in the hospital.

The crash happened Wednesday morning on Highway 5 in York County in front of the former Bowater plant.

The pickup's driver, Elwyn Tyre, 61, had to be cut out of the vehicle after it flipped.

The Lancaster native was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center.

Investigators said Tyre hit the truck when it slowed down to turn.
