Woman says gunshots caused her to wreck, sending 4 to the hospital

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police said a woman was driving near Gemway and Valrose Drives when an act of road rage led to a crash.

The woman said the driver of the other vehicle pulled a gun out on her.

A Cadillac Escalade the woman was driving crashed on the side of the road.

Police would not share any details of the crash, but said it was a random incident, possibly caused by an act of road rage and the driver of the Escalade said the driver of a blue pickup truck pulled out a gun and started shooting her SUV.

Four people were taken to the hospital, but police said that the driver is the only one who had any sort of wound consistent with a gunshot wound.

Neighbors said they have never witnessed such a chaotic scene in such a quiet neighborhood.

"It sounded like ambulances going that way," said neighbor Susan Kirk.

Police said they could not find any shell casings on the roads to prove that there was an actual shooting.

Police are still looking for the blue-colored pickup truck, which they believe is a Ford and could be a Ford Ranger.

Police ask if anyone has any information on the case to contact CMPD.
