Body of Oakboro police chief's niece found Friday

STANLY COUNTY, N.C. — The Stanly County Sheriff's Office is conducting a death investigation after a body was found in Oakboro on Friday afternoon.

The Oakboro police chief told Channel 9 the person is his niece, Amy Edwards Boger, 45.

Authorities found Boger's body just before 4 p.m. at a house on Griffin Greene Boulevard.

Officials believe that Boger suffered from one gunshot wound.

Sheriff George T. Burris said that the investigation is very concerning to investigators and that his office is working with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding Boger's death.

Investigators are speaking with family members to determine what Boger was doing in the hours leading up to her death.
