RALEIGH, N.C. — Officials with the State Board of Elections held another emergency meeting Sunday on the still-undecided governor's race.
The 12:30 meeting discussed the protest of the ballots in Durham County.
Gov. Pat McCrory’s campaign said Saturday that a Republican lawmaker asked the state board to recount those ballots.
Durham County’s Board of Elections already rejected a protest over the ballots.
State Board officials said in Sunday's meeting that they expect to receive evidence from Durham County officials by Tuesday. State officials plan to take 48 hours to review the documents and then set a meeting for the end of the week.
This week, there will be a hearing over the governor's race as well.
An advocacy group asked a judge to reject a conservative organization's lawsuit questioning same-day registration votes.
Those in favor of the suit said the state cannot finish counting votes until it verifies addresses of those voters.
Reporter Alexa Ashwell is listening to the board’s meeting and will break down the next steps in deciding the next governor of North Carolina. Watch her report on Eyewitness News at 6 p.m.
