Stepfather, neighbor tackle man accused of peeping on 16-year-old girl

STATESVILLE, N.C. — A man accused of peeping on a 16-year-old girl was tackled by her stepfather and a neighbor and held until police arrived.

The 16-year-old had just gotten out of the shower Wednesday night when a man more than twice her age was seen looking through her window at some apartments on Windrush Court in Statesville, police said.

“To me, it’s honestly disgusting,” said the 16-year-old, who didn’t want to be identified.

Police said Donta Deese had taken a chair from the pool and propped it up at the window.  The 16-year-old believes the man was trying to look through the blinds which were closed.

David Lite said a neighbor spotted Deese looking through his stepdaughter’s window and alerted Lite.

“He took off on us and went through the apartment complex and ran across the road, and we kind of got into it,” Lite said.

Lite said he had to drag Deese back down a hillside and hold him until police arrived.

“He tried to keep getting away from me and wanted me to let him go. I didn’t and held him til the cops came,” Lite said.

Deese is charged with secret peeping. He has bonded out of jail.

Deese has served time on a drug charge and has been arrested for resisting an officer and DWI.
