NEW YORK - Former Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith surprised a young fan on "Good Morning America" Thursday.
Seven-year-old Gavin Simone became a YouTube sensation when his father posted a video of him crying after news broke that Smith was going to be released by the Panthers.
In the video, the boy’s dad can be heard telling him that the Panthers were going to cut Smith. Gavin immediately starts crying.
The video went viral and received millions of views.
Smith surprised the boy on "GMA" with a big hug, along with a Ravens jersey and a hat and an invitation to the Steve Smith Pro Camp.
Smith signed with the Ravens on Friday one day after being released from Panthers.
