Strong winds knock down power lines on busy Charlotte street

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said strong wind is to blame for a tree falling and knocking down power lines on Sharon Road early Friday morning.

The lines came down around 5:30 a.m. in front of Sharon Baptist Church and the road is closed from Bramwyck Drive to Quail Park Drive while crews work to remove the lines.

Nobody was hurt.
