Students assist serving roughly 120 at church's soup kitchen

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Students from Park Road Montessori School helped out at the Ascension Lutheran Church soup kitchen Tuesday.

The group of students set up the dining hall in preparation to serve at least 120 people from the community.

Three students managed tables, took orders and served the guests.

For three years now, fourth-, fifth- and sixth-graders have visited the soup kitchen with a parent coordinator to volunteer on a weekly basis.

The students are rotated to provide an opportunity to help those less fortunate.
