Surveillance photos released after Huntersville jewelry store robbed

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — Police sent Channel 9 surveillance pictures from a jewelry store robbery in Huntersville off Sam Furr Road.

The photos show two men in teal-colored motorcycle helmets Thursday at the Brownlee Jewelers. Officers said one of the men showed a weapon.

The two took jewelry and got on a black and silver motorcycle. They then sped off. No one was injured in the robbery.

The manager of the Brownlee Jewelers in Huntersville told reporter Gina Esposito that it took the men 36 seconds to steal $250,000 in diamond rings.

The president of Brownlee Jewelers believes the men hit two other stores in North Carolina, adding it may not be connected to the robberies Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating at other Brownlee stores.

On June 15, burglars broke through the roof of the Arboretum store and stole watches.

On April 1, a surveillance video showed a robber tying up a worker at the Steele Creek location. Police did not say if the cases were connected, and added it was an on-going investigation.
