Suspect in Charlotte carjacking arrested

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police said a carjacker led them on a chase through north Charlotte Wednesday night.

Police said the robber stole a car on the 2600 block of Beatties Ford Road and when police spotted the stolen car, they tried to stop him.

He led them on a chase to the Gaston County line.

A witness said that's when the man in the car took off on foot.

"I talked to the state trooper and as I was doing that, I noticed a bunch of state troopers go into the woods," the witness said. "It looked like they had their guns drawn and they've just been going in and out of the woods."

Police arrested the man but they haven't released a name or said what charges he will face.
