• Teacher who admitted to slapping student back on suspension

ANSON COUNTY, N.C. - An Anson County teacher is facing a new hurdle in her battle to get back in the classroom.

Patricia Frost has been suspended since June after she admitted to slapping a student in self-defense.

Frost told Eyewitness News that the school system suddenly decided a few days ago not to fire her.

When she went to class this week, she was informed that she was going to be suspended for another 60 days, without pay.

Frost said the key issue in this whole ordeal is safety.

"I defended myself and I was suspended," Frost said. "I think it sends the wrong message to teachers that they can't protect themselves, nor students."

Frost and her attorney are appealing the district's decision to put her back on suspension.
