Teen accused of threatening classmate with gun

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A 14-year-old boy was charged after he was accused of threatening his seventh-grade classmate, Chance Grier, in a Facebook message.

"He was like, ‘Chance, I'm going to blow your head off. Look out your window,’" the teenager said.

Chance and the boy live across from each other and both attend Druid Hills Academy in north Charlotte.

They were suspended for fighting at school last week.

Chance's parent filed a police report and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is also involved.

The 14-year-old boy acknowledged it's him in the picture but he insists someone else sent the message and photo from his account.

When asked where he got the gun, the boy said a friend let him hold it for the photo.

"At first, I thought it was cool so I took the picture," the boy said, "I'm sorry. I'm sorry Chance for taking the picture. It ain't good to have a gun."

Isaac Holloway is raising Chance as his daughter and that the tragic school shooting in Florida magnifies the importance of identifying youths seeking attention with guns.

"Not only do we want justice for Chance, we want help for this young man," Holloway said, "This is a cry for help. He needs help."

Family members said they're living in fear but hope speaking out helps stop bullying for someone else.
