ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. - A Rowan County teen pled guilty to posting a nude photo of a 15-year-old girl on Instagram.
Juan Batista, 17, was charged with cyberbullying and was suspected from West Rowan High School.
A judge gave Batista a 20-day suspended sentence and 18 months probation.
He was ordered to go back to school.
A school resource officer told deputies about the photo and detectives said they traced the post back to Bautista.
Deputies said the picture had been originally sent to the girl’s boyfriend, but it was leaked to Bautista.
Authorities are investigating nine other counties in North Carolina where there have been vulgar accounts and parents are concerned.
“You just have to know what your kids are doing and just know all the avenues they have to go to on social media,” said Amy Brown, a parent.
Parents said now is the time to talk to kids about making smart choices online.
"Use it for what it's intended and not for leisure," James Rankin, a parent, said. "Because there's more to life than just staying on the cell phone on your computers all day long."
