SALISBURY, N.C. — A 17-year-old high school student was shot Sunday morning when shots were fired into a crowd as a party was ending, officials said.
The shooters fled the scene of a beauty salon, where the party was taking place, in the 900 block of South Main Street in Salisbury.
Kendra Jackson was critically wounded when she was shot in the stomach. The victim was airlifted to North Carolina Baptist Hospital. A 19-year-old man was shot in the ankle and showed up at Novant Health-Rowan.

Nykeisha Eberhart’s son, Kenneth, was outside when shots rang out.
"I’m very grateful my son is OK. I pray for him every night," Eberhart said.
He said a black car drove up and that’s when the gunfire erupted.
“Right now, at least 30 shots (were fired),” said Lt. Greg Beam, of the Salisbury Police Department.
Jackson is a Salisbury High School student and remains in the hospital with critical injuries.
The owner of the building where the beauty salon is located did not know about the party until after the shooting.
Police believe there were two gunmen involved because the bullets recovered were from different caliber weapons. Authorities don't have a motive for the crime.
The second shooting victim was released from the hospital.
