High school students in Pageland, S.C. are mourning after one of their classmates was killed in an accident.
The 16-year-old, Aliscia Thomas, was killed in a car crash on Tuesday night.
There are roughly 600 students at Central High School and the school is as somber and quiet as anyone has ever seen it on Wednesday.
Thomas, also known as Lee Lee, died at the scene on Tuesday night.
The Highway Patrol said she and the driver, Elante Meadows, were not wearing seat belts.
Thomas's stepfather, Dewayne Covington, was very emotional when he spoke to Eyewitness News.
"It is just a tragedy right now for my family, we just need all the support we can get right about now," said Covington, "We know God is on our side and we know my daughter is in a better place right now."
Two grief counselors are at Central High School.
The driver, Meadows, has been released from CMC Union Hospital.
Meadows has not been charged.
