Teenager accused of shooting UNC Charlotte student

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The person accused of shooting a UNC Charlotte student last weekend was arrested Friday morning.

Police said they were waiting for 17-year-old Davahughn Johnson as he got off the school bus at Mallard Creek High School. They arrested him without incident.

Police said Johnson shot 20-year-old John Borek early Sunday morning in the parking lot of The Flats at Mallard Creek apartments. It's home to many UNC Charlotte students, and while Borek doesn’t live there, he is a student at the school.

Parents said the situation concerns them.

"I'm surprised they would have anything like that here," parent Veronica Johnson said. "A lot of us move out here in this community for that safety reason."

Borek is still hospitalized.
