Warrants out for woman in connection with robbery at Stonecrest

CHARLOTTE. N.C. — Police have warrants out for the woman who allegedly robbed two teenage girls with a box cutter in the parking lot of a popular shopping center Tuesday night.

The warrants are for Katherine Marie Ferry, 32.

The girls, 16 and 17, told police they had finished dinner at the Stonecrest Shopping Center and were in their car about to leave when a woman approached and asked them for money. When they didn’t respond immediately, they said she pulled out a box cutter and demanded money again.

They gave her what few dollars they had. She walked away and approached another person in the parking lot.

Customers who spoke with Eyewitness News on Thursday said they were surprised to learn of the robbery, and will be more watchful.

“You worry about something in some areas, but I'd never thought about it in this area,” said Will Russey, who said he is in the shopping center often.

The girls told their parents the suspected robber was wearing a fast food restaurant uniform, which might help police identify the woman.

A witness came to police after seeing the story on the news.

The witness was just before the robbery occurred by the same woman dressed in the Wendy's uniform at the same location, police said.

The witness was panhandled and when the witness refused to give the woman money, the woman walked off irate.

The witness was able to positively identify the suspected robber.
