CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Investigators say thieves broke in three different homes in South Charlotte's Madison Park community; in a matter of days.
According to police, the thieves stole flat-screen TVs, computers, jewelry, and a gun from homes along Cooper Drive and Murrayhill Road.
Shelby Warren, 79, was among those victimized by the break-ins, and had to replace her door, after thieves stripped the lock.
"I thought I was safe," Warren said.
Resident Jon Miller, also of Madison Park, expressed frustration Wednesday, citing an increase in theft in the neighborhood over the last few years.
"Four houses around me have all been broken into," he said.
"It's scary. This neighborhood used to be a lot of elderly people, and it's changing."
Neighbors will have the opportunity to voice their concerns to police, in their regularly scheduled meeting Monday night at Pinewood Elementary School.
Officers in the Westover division have also been ordered to patrol Madison Park, if they aren't already on a call.
"I'll always use my new security system, which I never did want," Warren added.
