Thousands of passengers to land in Charlotte on Sunday

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — On Sunday, thousands of passengers will land in Charlotte throughout the afternoon.

Airport officials said it is one of the busiest days of the year and there have been swarms of passengers at Charlotte-Douglas Airport since early Sunday morning.

The airport said roughly 25,000 people will fly out of Charlotte on Sunday to other destinations and that several thousand passengers will land in Charlotte as well.

Passengers have experienced packed airplanes and long lines.

"It took me an extra 10 minutes to get my bags because there were so many people getting bags. I couldn't find my bags at first," said passenger Junel Porter.

Up to 70,000 people will be landing in Charlotte on Sunday afternoon.
