UNION COUNTY, N.C. - North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to a toddler hit by a car in Union County.
Authorities said the toddler's father accidentally backed over the child Saturday morning with his car.
The accident happened around 11 a.m. on Steele Road near Highway 200 outside of Waxhaw.
The toddler was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center.
Highway Patrol officials told Eyewitness News the child died from the injuries.
Police have not released the names of the toddler or the father. No charges have been filed.
