South Charlotte road reopened after toppled tree removed

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A major road in south Charlotte was reopened around 7:45 a.m. after being closed overnight when a large tree fell, blocking in it.

Police had to close Sharon View Road from Colony Road to Allison Avenue after the tree crashed down into the roadway just before 2 a.m.

Police and city officials were worked for more than five hours to remove the tree.
