Troopers: 1 killed in wreck on I-77 in Chester Co.

CHESTER COUNTY, S.C. — A person died after a crash in Chester County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The accident happened around 12:40 p.m. Friday on Interstate 77 northbound.

Troopers said Patricia Bolyn, 63, was driving a 2014 Dodge van and was stopped for traffic on I-77. John Carter, 63, driving a 2014 Dodge van was stopped behind her.

A third driver in a 1998 Oldsmobile came up behind the other two drivers. The driver was going too fast for conditions and hit Carter's vehicle and causing the van to ram into the other.

The Oldsmobile then overturned in the median. The driver of the Oldsmobile was fatally injured and the driver's name was not released.
