Troopers caught speeding to doughnut shop

The North Carolina Highway Patrol is responding to a video caught by ABC's "20/20" showing state troopers in Raleigh dangerously speeding.

They said none of these incidents was during an emergency.

ABC clocked one of the police cruisers going 80 mph headed to a Dunkin' Donuts.

Another was caught traveling 75 mph in a 45 mph zone.

In a statement, Highway Patrol said, "We are committed to being a law enforcement agency dedicated to serving the citizens of North Carolina. We require our troopers to operate their vehicles in careful and prudent manner."

It also said Highway Patrol has taken appropriate action against the three troopers involved but didn't elaborate.

If a citizen is caught going 15 mph over the limit, they could lose their license or even face jail time.
