GASTON COUNTY, N.C. - A man died Friday morning in a wreck in Gaston County, according to North Carolina Highway Patrol Troopers.
Troopers said Cecil Glen Jenkins, 89, was driving north of Philadelphia Church Road in Dallas when his vehicle hydroplaned and went off the roadway, hitting a mailbox and a ditch culvert. He was wearing a seat belt.
Troopers said they believe he was exceeding safe speeds for conditions.
