State troopers arrested a suspected drunk driver early Friday morning after they said he was speeding over 100 mph on Interstate 85 in Gaston County.
According to Channel 9's partners at the Gaston Gazette, 21-year-old Anad Seetharaman of Georgia was driving 102 mph in the northbound lanes of I-85 in Belmont just after midnight.
The speed limit for that section of the interstate is 60 mph.
When troopers stopped Seetharaman, the said his eyes were red and glassy and that they could smell alcohol.
When authorities conducted a blood-alcohol test on Seetharaman just before 3 a.m., it indicated a blood-alcohol content of .14.
The legal limit in North Carolina is .08.
Seetharaman was charged with driving while impaired and speeding and booked into Gaston County Jail under a $5,000 bond.
