CHEROKEE COUNTY, S.C. — A fatal crash in South Carolina on Interstate 85 is causing delays, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The wreck happened around 5:10 p.m. near exit 106 in Cherokee County.
Troopers said a 2003 Toyota four-door car, driven by a woman, was traveling northbound on I-85 when the driver lost control and entered southbound lanes.
The Toyota hit a 2013 Freightliner with a trailer driven by Kenneth Goodman, 53, of Virginia and a 2007 Freightliner with a trailer driven by James Allen Cartherns, 51, of Georgia. The Freightliner driven by Cartherns overturned.
The driver of the Toyota was killed in the wreck. A passenger in the Toyota was flown to a hospital.
Cartherns was taken to a hospital by ambulance.
Northbound lanes are not closed, but there are traffic delays.
