Lawsuit: Trump camp did nothing after NC campaign director pulled gun

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A former staffer with Donald Trump's North Carolina campaign is suing the Republican presidential candidate's campaign and its former state director, who he says pulled a gun on him.

Vincent Bordini said the incident happened in February while he was sitting in the passenger seat of a vehicle, driving with Trump's North Carolina campaign director, Earl Phillip.

"He took out the gun and he pressed it against my knee. There was no heated argument or nothing like that," Bordini said.

Bordini claims the incident only lasted two seconds but was completely unprovoked and no words were spoken.

Channel 9 investigative reporter Paul Boyd asked Bordini why he didn't call police.

"In this situation, (when) you work for a campaign, when you make something public, it damages the campaign and your co-workers," Bordini said.

Phillip told Channel 9 Thursday that he denies the incident took place.

Phillip said he resigned Thursday from any involvement with Trump's campaign to avoid being a distraction.

Bordini said he quit the campaign several months ago when no action was taken by his superiors.

The lawsuit claims "emotion distress" and said Phillip is suing to "… hold the Trump campaign and Phillip accountable."

Boyd asked Bordini if the public would view the lawsuit filed Wednesday as some sort of "shakedown" of the Trump campaign.

"They might say that at the beginning but by the time this is at trial there's always more to come, right?" Bordini said.
Bordini said he knows others who have experienced similar behavior by Phillip.

Trump campaign officials told Channel 9 on Thursday they are deciding how to respond.
