‘Trust your body’: Woman shares warning story after suffering stroke in her 20s

CHARLOTTE — A woman in Charlotte has a simple message after a life-altering experience: you don’t have to be any certain age to suffer from a stroke.

Rachel Wielgosz says she was just three weeks shy of her wedding day when she suddenly didn’t feel like herself. She said all her life she’s been healthy and active, which makes what happened to her even stranger. She suffered a stroke.

“I am 27, that can not happen to me. Why would that happen to me?” she recalled saying.

An uncommon headache, numbness on one side of your body, or feeling exceptionally tired can all be signs of a possible stroke.

Now, Wielgosz has a word of advice: “Trust your body. If something feels off, trust it, you know your body better than anyone else.”

In the video at the top of this page, see what it took for Wielgosz to make a full recovery.
