UNC Charlotte police looking for witnesses after sexual assault on campus

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police at UNC Charlotte said they need witnesses to help solve a sexual assault on campus.

A woman told officers a man she didn't know followed her into a first floor bathroom of the Fretwell building and sexually assaulted her. It happened around 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said they've yet to find anyone who saw anything.

"There are no cameras (in the building)," UNCC Police Chief Jeff Baker said, "and we are canvassing the building, and the students and the folks in that area, extensively."

The alleged victim described her attacker as a white man in his 20s, wearing sweatpants and a UNCC sweatshirt.
