CHARLOTTE, N.C. — UNC Charlotte released its crime stats for 2015, and it shows violent crimes on campus are down.

Channel 9 dug through the report and found a huge drop in rapes on campus. The report shows there were 12 cases last year, compared to 32 rapes on campus in 2014. It’s a more than 50 percent drop.

There were 15 drug violations at the school in 2015, but that number is still far lower than they were in 2013.

The decrease in violent crime comes after a number of shootings at apartments near the campus raised security concerns.

Channel 9 will meet with campus officials later Friday morning to discuss the steps they’re taking to keep students safe on campus.
