Undercover officers arrest 2 after possible meth lab bust

LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. — Lincoln County sheriff's undercover narcotics officers said they caught two men on suspicion of making meth after trying to track them down three different times.

Authorities said they caught Norman Gladden Jr. and his friend Jesse Trent by surprise Wednesday evening at Gladden's home on American Way in Denver.

Authorities raided the home and said they found all the ingredients to make methamphetamine.

"We located subjects trying to get rid of evidence of a meth lab. One of them was carrying a backpack towards the wood line and we were able to catch up with him," said an undercover officer.

The State Bureau of Investigation was called in to perform tests on what authorities believe was a working meth lab.

Undercover officers said they've had Gladden and Trent on their radar for months now.

The men are behind bars charged with possession of methamphetamine.
