UNION COUNTY, N.C. - Union County leaders scheduled a new date to talk about dissolving the board that oversees Department of Social Services.
The county's entire system has come under scrutiny since former DSS supervisor Wanda Larson was charged with child abuse.
Investigators found an 11-year-old boy under the legal guardianship of Larson and her husband with a dead chicken tied around his neck.
Last night Union County commissioners voted to dissolve the board that oversees DSS.
They're holding a public hearing to take away all power and responsibility from the consolidated Human Services board.
That meeting will be 7 p.m. Jan. 6 in the commissioners board room.
