UNION COUNTY, N.C. — Union County's Division of Public Health is joining a multistate investigation into the dangerous effects of vaping.

Seven deaths and hundreds of illnesses have been connected to e-cigarettes.
There have not been any reports in Union County, but the health director said they're working to educate people about those dangers.
Officials are ready to work with the State Division of Public Health and the Centers of Disease of Control and Prevention to gather information and investigate any cases.
South Carolina is considering a ban on flavored e-cigarettes, where there have been three confirmed cases of severe lung disease there.
Michigan and the state of New York have already banned them.
