Uptown arena officially named Spectrum Center

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Spectrum Center is now home to the Charlotte Hornets after its name was officially changed Thursday from Time Warner Cable Arena.

“It's pretty nice,” fan Tryone Young said. “I like it, you know. It's a different, unique name than Time Warner Cable."

The new signs and displays are in place, including the largest scoreboard in the NBA

Spectrum is Charter cable's TV, internet and phone service.

The company acquired Time Warner Cable in a $68 billion merger.

Fans will get their first look at all of the new technology and the new name this Saturday for the Hornets home opener.

Charlotte Department of Transportation said Spectrum will pay to have Time Warner Cable signs replaced around town.
