Uptown crash leaves 1,300 customers without power

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — On Wednesday morning, a crash left more than 1,300 Duke Energy customers without power.

The driver took out a power pole near McDowell and Fifth Street.

Investigators believe the driver may have had a medical condition that caused the crash, but the driver's condition has not yet been released.

Duke Energy estimates that its customers will have restored power around 3 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.
