Police: Driver tries to hit pedestrian, later dies in north Charlotte wreck

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A woman who tried to hit a pedestrian with her car on Friday died later that night in a crash in north Charlotte, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said.

Ebony Little, 26, got into an argument with someone she knew around 8 p.m. on Murray Street and tried to hit the person with her Lexus LS400, police said.

The person escaped unharmed, and Little sped off, police said. She then drove onto Beatties Ford Road where she went off the right side of the road and onto the sidewalk, according to officials. When she tried to get back onto the road, she lost control and the car crossed the yellow line into oncoming traffic.

The right side of her car slammed into the front of a Buick Lesabre, causing her car to flip onto its roof. The Buick driver had minor injuries.

Little died at the scene. Police said speed and alcohol contributed to the crash.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call 704-336-8862 or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
