Updated:HAYWOOD COUNTY, N.C. —
An animal rights group just released video of poor conditions at a North Carolina dairy farm that supplies milk to Harris Teeter.
The video from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) shows cows trudging through waste pits at a Haywood County farm.
It also shows some emaciated cows and others who have painful hoof problems.
PETA’s findings have prompted the North Carolina Department of Environmental and Natural Resources to conduct an emergency inspection of the farm.
The State Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is also looking into heath concerns related to the production of the farm’s milk.
Harris Teeter released a statement to Channel 9 saying its milk supplier has never delivered milk to them from this farm.
