Wake Forest University frat shut down after multiple student code of conduct violations

WINSTON SALEM, N.C. — Wake Forest University shut down a fraternity after officials say the organization violated the student code of conduct multiple times.

“Following an administrative hearing last week, the university’s decision cited a failure to follow a mutually agreed-upon social events risk management plan, hosting an unauthorized party with a keg, and repeated lack of compliance with the directions of university officials,” the university said.

Delta Kappa Epsilon was previously on deferred suspension due to violations from last year and was placed on interim suspension in September after hosting an unregistered house party.

University police also investigated the fraternity in September after receiving two reports of sexual assault.

Delta Kappa Epsilon is no longer recognized on campus, but will eligible to reapply on May 31, 2022.

University officials may choose to recognize the organization again, but only after a continuous four-year period of non-operation.
