What Charlotte's apartment renters can expect this winter

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — New data from a Texas-based real estate analytics firm indicates that bargains could exist this winter for Charlotte apartment renters.

RealPage Inc., which provides software and data analytics to the real estate industry, says that rent, across the board, drops during the fourth quarter of the year and remains relatively flat throughout the first quarter — marking seasonality in apartment market performance. And it identified Charlotte as among a dozen of the nation’s largest metros where renters could hold the most bargaining power as a result of this trend in the months ahead.

But while cold weather is a key contributor to the rent decrease for some of those larger markets, the Queen City is different. RealPage noted Charlotte’s pipeline of new apartments coming on line as the driving force behind such a local rent slowdown.
