CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A woman and 10 children escaped a fire in their south Charlotte apartment early Friday morning.
Firefighters were called around 3 a.m. to the scene on Leafcrest Lane, just south of Archdale Road.
Investigators told Channel 9 that the fire started in the family's dryer before spreading to the rest of the apartment.
When crews arrived, they found smoke billowing from the building.
Firefighters were able to get the fire under control in 25 minutes and nobody was hurt.
The American Red Cross is helping the family find a place to stay.
