Woman charged in fight leading up to shooting death of Charlotte woman

Channel 9 learned new information about a fight sources said may have led up to the death of a young Charlotte woman.

Channel 9 first reported over the weekend Jasmin Flores was shot and killed in east Charlotte.

Police confirmed one woman was charged with assault in the fight that led to the shooting death of Flores.

Her family said they have a lot of unanswered questions about the investigation, as well as the fight at a local middle school which may have started this all.

Family and friends of Flores gathered Monday night at Marshall Park to honor the 22-year-old woman who was shot and killed during a fight on Darbrook Drive Friday.

“We're trying to hold it up for her mother as best as we can,” cousin Latonya Garces said.

For days the family has been looking for clarity as to what led up to the shooting.

Sabrina Grimsley was charged with assault for her involvement in the fight on Darbrook Drive that ultimately led to Flores' death.

The family said Flores went with a group to Darbrook Drive because another woman wanted to confront another mother about a fight their children had been involved in at Eastway Middle School earlier that day.

There may have been more than one fight involving some of the same people at the school that day.

Channel 9 received a video of the fight from an anonymous viewer, that the family said has also been circulating on Facebook.

The family admits Flores should have never gone over to Darbrook Drive but wants someone to be held accountable for her death
Police have not charged the gunman, possibly in an attempt to break up the fight.
