Woman works to help protect west Charlotte neighborhood from crime

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A west Charlotte community has a new weapon to protect it from crime this holiday season.

Gina Gupton has been proactive in keeping the Belmeade neighborhood safe with flyers and safety reminders.

She also helped launch a Facebook page for the community. Residents can stay connected and warn each other about any suspicious activity.

“You would hit your Facebook, go to the Belmeade neighborhood watch, then let us know what you saw so we can share the information with the neighbors so they can be aware of suspicious activity,” Gupton said.

She said she is also working directly with police in the neighborhood to come up with ways to curb crime.
