Worker injured after steel beam falls on leg

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — An employee was injured Wednesday after a steel beam feel on his leg, according to officials.
 
The accident happened in the 1300 block of Exchange Street. The man was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
 
An employee at the company said the man was using a remote-control crane to store large metal beams. Somehow, a steel beam fell on his leg. He yelled and people heard him to come help.
 
The injury was to the lower part of the employee's leg.
 
An employee said the company makes steel for construction. Reporter Ken Lemon is on scene and working to gather more details.
