CHESTER COUNTY, S.C. — South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers are investigating after a York man was hit and killed by a car early Sunday morning in Chester County.
The crash happened just before 2:30 a.m. along Highway 97.
Troopers said a 1998 Nissan Truck was turning left on Highway 97 when it struck 28-year-old Detrick Whitney-Taylor, who was in the roadway.
EMS crews pronounced Whitney-Taylor dead at the scene.
Officials said the driver of the Nissan was not injured and was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
