York police chief investigation handed off again

YORK COUNTY — The use of force investigation into the York police chief is being passed on once again.

South Carolina Law Enforcement Division investigated Chief Andy Robinson over a chase and arrest that happened in April amid questions of use of force. The local solicitor could not review SLED's case because of a conflict of interest, and it was passed to the solicitor in Spartanburg.

On Monday, Channel 9 learned that the suspect, Jacob Bailey, is accused of an armed robbery there. The review will have to be moved again.

They had asked to move the case to Greenville, but that county has an attempted murder charge pending on Bailey.

The solicitor in Anderson will likely be called to review the case against Robinson.
