CHINA GROVE, N.C. — A young girl was struck by a car Thursday morning in China Grove while waiting for a school bus, according to officials.
Channel 9 was told that she’s 11 years old.
Officials with the China Grove Police Department said the girl was dropped off by her mother around 6:40 a.m. at the intersection of South Main Street and Coach Deal Drive.
Authorities said that while waiting for the bus, the girl darted across the street into oncoming traffic and was hit by a vehicle.
Officials said the girl was treated for minor injuries and taken to a hospital as a precaution. She’s expected to be OK.
The school bus was not at the scene when the accident happened, officials said.
Authorities added that there were no citations issued as a result of the incident.
